Anatomic Pathology Tech (Full Time 100% - Days) Adena Health - Pathology
Anatomic Pathology Technologist who provides services in the Surgical Pathology Gross Room; receives surgical specimens for gross and microscopic examination; confirms patient identity and specimen labeling requirements; triages specimens for diagnostic tests; accessions all cases using surgical pathology software providing accurate associated billing for surgical specimens; facilitates problem resolution for unacceptable specimens; performs gross examination of all biopsies and some non-complex surgical excisions; assists with the microtomy of frozen section slide preparation; assists with staining and cover slipping of frozen section slides; assists with permanent labeling of frozen section slides; assists with embedding, cutting and staining, as necessary; answers laboratory phone; opens surgical specimens to allow for appropriate fixation; assists with storage shelf organization; assists with inventory management; and assists with equipment maintenance and cleaning.

Obtain and distribute acceptable laboratory specimens and required information in a timely manner Performs all procedures required for the preparation of pathology specimens in a manner consistent with department and regulatory standards.
Demonstrates personal competency by successful completion of annual department competency program.
Evaluates the validity of the pathology specimen preparation process and may consult with provider before taking corrective action.
Performs accurate registration, test ordering, and patient information gathering within the organizations information system.
Ensures proper functioning instrumentation and methods.
Troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions in methods and instruments.
Participates in the development of new laboratory methods and special projects.
May be involved with direct patient care.

Minimum/Required Qualifications Associates Degree (Laboratory Sciences or Biological Sciences) Earned Associates Degree from an accredited institution.
1-3 years of experience as an AP Tech.
